Where It All Began
Hi, I'm Eve, the founder of Baba+Boo.
Never in a million years did I think I would be an entrepreneur. My nine year old self would be amazed. She always thought she would be a librarian. Although part of me still believes that will happen one day.
Before I had children, I worked as a senior buyer in a buying team procuring merchandise for global events such as the World Cup and the Olympics.I really loved it. It was fast paced and intense. I was made redundant whilst I was on maternity leave and maybe it was a good thing because I didn’t realise that I had another little one on the way at the time.
I have always worked, since the age of 13 when I was a waitress and all of a sudden, I didn’t have a job for the first time in 20 years. Having two babies under two was…well, I still struggle for words on that because hard doesn’t quite cut it. And I needed something for me, so when my babies were 18 months old and 9 weeks old, I started the first steps on my entrepreneurial journey. And i'm still here!
I think that tells you how much I love what I do and how much passion I have for helping parents live simpler, more sustainable lives. Baba+Boo is more than a product business, it is a community and a way of living. I have experienced untold kindness towards me and I have seen such generous acts of kindness within our community, it makes my heart sing.
Even to this day, I get tingles when I see nappies on their way out to their tiny brand new bums. It is such a privilege to be able to work with parents and help them. I am always so grateful that parents choose to use Baba+Boo. Our nappies go out worldwide too and that always blows my tiny mind.
I now have a wonderful team that help me at Baba+Boo and we always ask ourselves two questions: How can we reduce waste and increase kindness? Since 2009, we have diverted over 40 million nappies from landfill, and counting.
Using reusables is a form of gentle activism. It’s one of the small things that you can do to make a difference to the world. It can be a way of slowing down and we have plenty of mums in our community who say that using reusables helped them find calm and routine in the days of overwhelm. Reusable nappies are so much more than nappies. And we would love to help you start learning more about them.
Thank you for reading and if you have any questions at all about nappies email me or the team here.
